William Philip, senior minister at the Tron Church in Glasgow, has recently completed his masterful commentary, Genesis: Christian Beginnings. William began his work on the book of Genesis in 2010, and has since preached through Genesis twice to his congregation in Scotland.
Like the river flowing from Eden, Genesis gives rise to the headwaters of every rich stream of revelation which flows, gathering breadth and pace, throughout Scripture’s unfolding story; it is foundational for our theology of, literally, everything.
Unless we start at the beginning, at the gospel source, one will not fully understand the great doctrines of the Christian gospel.
Whilst this commentary is robustly academic and theologically profound, the pages never stray from being earnestly pastoral, providing heartfelt spiritual wisdom for those in the pulpit and pew.
About the Author
William J U Philip has been senior minister of The Tron Church since 2004. He previously served as director of ministry at The Proclamation Trust in London, and founded Cornhill Scotland, an organisation committed to training pastors for expository preaching. Prior to ordination he was a doctor specialising in cardiology. Married to Rebecca, they have two adult daughters, and (so far!) one precious grandson.
